Tahnee acts for a range of professionals in negligence, regulatory and disciplinary matters. She also provides advice to insurers in Australia and internationally on policy cover and disputes. She works closely with our Victorian based partners on complex reinsurance matters. 

EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

Tahnee frequently defends litigated claims against legal practitioners, accountants, financial advisors, real estate agents, building surveyors, engineers and other construction professionals in the Federal and Victorian Courts, VCAT and AFCA. She also works on complex reinsurance matters, project specific policy disputes, and other coverage matters.

Prior to joining Moray and Agnew, Tahnee gained extensive experience defending claims against professionals and employers for injury including worker’s compensation recoveries and institutional abuse in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

Her experience working with a diverse range of professionals and jurisdictions shines through in her astute approach to assessing individual claim circumstances and working to achieve best outcomes for both insurers and insureds.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Tahnee’s recent experience includes matters such as:

  • Advising the insurer of a project specific policy on disputes involving a complex of claims by insureds against the same policy
  • Advising insurers on coverage in several factual situations involving significant employee dishonesty and fraud
  • Acting for accountants in professional negligence claims involving allegations of misleading and deceptive conduct, breaches of contract, and negligence relating to tax advice, preparation of documents and accounts
  • Defending financial service providers in relation allegations of breaches of the Corporations Act, the ASIC Act and Australian Consumer Law.
  • Defending claims against barristers and solicitors for professional negligence or breach of fiduciary duties where underlying issues involve complex commercial transactions, property disputes, liquidators’ claims and regulatory breaches
  • Acting for industry regulators in claims involving negligence resulting in both financial loss and personal injury
  • Acting for real estate agents, property managers and other professionals in claims for personal injury.
