Nicola is a highly skilled lawyer with over 25 years of experience in insurance law. Nicola has significant experience in managing complex, multi-party litigation covering professional indemnity, catastrophic personal injury, general liability and medical treatment claims in the Supreme, District and Appeal Courts, and in the State Administrative Tribunal.

EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

Nicola advises and acts on behalf of insurers in the management and defence of claims against professionals engaged in the construction, civil, structural, chemical, metallurgical and mechanical engineering, property management, valuation, accounting, financial advisory, scientific, environmental, architecture, project management and health fields.

She also advises on and defends medical treatment claims against medical practitioners and public hospitals.

Nicola advises on and defends personal injury claims ranging from small to catastrophic injuries, general liability claims and business interruption claims.

She has acted in professional disciplinary matters in the health sphere, which involved assessment of and advice on evidence and merits of complaints and breaches of professional standards and the preparation and conduct of disciplinary proceedings in the State Administrative Tribunal.

Nicola has advised on, defended and resolved claims arising from exposure to asbestos resulting in lung cancer, asbestosis and mesothelioma.

Nicola provides timely, concise and constructive advice on claims management and the implementation of appropriate strategies to achieve early satisfactory cost effective resolution of claims.

Nicola is skilled in making informed objective and realistic assessments about the merits of a matter.
