Mark has almost three decades’ experience representing insurers’ interests in compulsory third party, public liability, and life and disability matters, and has been an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law since 1996.

EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

Mark is highly skilled insurance lawyer, acting for and advising major insurers and claims managers. He has appeared as advocate for clients in SIRA’s Dispute Resolution Service, Claims Assessment and Resolution Service and in the Local, District and Supreme Courts and other tribunals and, in particular, has often appeared for insurers at SIRA’s Dispute Resolution Service.

Mark has also run many appeals to the Court of Appeal as well as Applications for Special Leave to Appeal to the High Court, as well as advising clients on complex factual and legal issues, multi-party litigation, fraud, common law election, limitation of actions, double insurance, indemnity, judicial review and claims for equitable and other relief such as under the Contracts Review Act 1980 (NSW), the Fair Trading Act 1987 (NSW), Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) and the former Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth).

Major / catastrophic claims managed by Mark have included claims involving brain injury, quadriplegia, paraplegia and amputation, as well as claims involving severe and permanently incapacitating psychiatric injury.

Mark also manages claims involving participants in the Lifetime Care and Support Scheme, including a foreign resident.

Before entering private practice Mark spent five years with GIO. He is admitted to practise in New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.

Mark has an active interest in alternative dispute resolution and he has undergone mediation training with LEADR. Mark’s clients have found his experience and training to be of great assistance and value.
