Adam specialises in medical negligence litigation with extensive experience and expertise in defending medical practitioners and health service providers in the Victorian medical negligence jurisdiction.

Adam has wide-ranging experience across the full spectrum of matters concerning the medical industry. This includes acting for defendant medical practitioners in litigated matters in Victorian County Court and Victorian Supreme Court.

Practitioners he has acted for include general practitioners, general surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, bariatric surgeons, plastic surgeons, vascular surgeons, ENTs, obstetricians, gynaecologists, urologists, gastroenterologists, anaesthetists, psychiatrists and cardiologists.

Adam previously worked as a legal team manager at one of Australia’s largest medical indemnity insurers, This gave him a unique insight into the insurers needs and priorities as well as the needs of medical practitioners in these sensitive matters.

As a seasoned advocate, Adam provides pragmatic, outcome-focused guidance and legal services, ensuring his clients feel confident to continue providing medical services to the community.

Adam has represented medical professionals and organisations in allegations and claims relating to:

  • Failure to diagnose and delay in diagnosing cancer
  • Nervous shock by dependents of deceased patients including allegations of mismanaged psychiatric treatment
  • Wrongful birth, including allegations relating to antenatal shared care arrangements, and failed termination procedures
  • Catastrophic injury to a child and the use of sodium valproate
  • Inadequate consenting
  • Labiaplasty procedures as well as the use of mesh
  • Spinal fusion surgeries and wrong-level surgeries
  • Leaks following gastric sleeve repair procedures
  • Local anaesthetic toxicity
  • Infections, bleeding and catastrophic acquired brain injuries
  • Management of elevated triglyceride levels
  • Ureteric injuries
  • Catastrophic injury involving an abdominal aortic aneurysm repair procedure
  • Compartment syndrome and foot drop
  • Breast augmentation procedures and calf augmentation procedures and

Adam’s experience also includes negotiating indemnity arrangements and complex contribution agreements (informal and formal) with other parties including MDOs and other large medical indemnity insurers.
