Julian is an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law.

He is an experienced negotiator and litigator with a wide range of experience handling disputes arising from Compulsory Third Party (CTP) claims and recoveries under s151Z of the Workers Compensation Act 1987.

Experience & Expertise

Julian joined Moray & Agnew’s Sydney team in early 2016, having previously worked for a prominent boutique law firm undertaking insurance and commercial disputes on behalf of public liability insurers and other clients.

His experience includes:

  • Advising and acting for insurers in relation to all aspects of CTP claims governed by both the Motor Accidents Compensation Act 1999 and Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017, including managing litigated and non-litigated disputes
  • Advising and acting for both CTP and workers compensation insurers in relation to recoveries under s151Z of the Workers Compensation Act 1987
  • Providing settlement advice and engaging in dispute resolution processes on behalf of insurers
  • Acting in matters before the Personal Injury Commission as well as the District and Supreme Courts and Court of Appeal of New South Wales
  • Providing seminars and other educational material to insurers

Julian takes a pragmatic approach to management of matters with a focus on early settlement when suitable. At the same time, he is cognisant early resolution cannot always be achieved and therefore also prioritises timely and thorough investigations and gathering of evidence.

In relation to recoveries actions, Julian brings a unique perspective and skillset in light of his involvement in both prosecuting and defending those matters.

Accomplishments

Julian regularly achieves excellent results for insurers in a wide variety of matters including, but not limited to, myriad disputes before the Personal Injury Commission, judicial review proceedings before the Supreme Court and proceedings arising from disputes under s151Z of the Workers Compensation Act 1987. He has obtained numerous costs orders in favour of his clients in litigated matters and verdicts for the defendant including in unmeritorious claims brought on behalf of infants.
