Working closely with the National Pro Bono Committee, Lauren sources and undertakes a range of pro bono work, including providing high quality legal advice and conducting litigation. Her main areas of practice are housing, administrative law, employment law, discrimination, sexual harassment, and victims of crime matters.
In addition to being a keen litigator, Lauren also enjoys building and implementing innovative service delivery models and strategies, with a core focus on the use of technology and data reporting systems to evaluate performance and impact.
Lauren is known for taking a collaborative approach to legal service provision in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for her clients. She provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to staff who engage in pro bono work across the firm. In addition, she is also responsible for developing relationships with the community and not-for-profit sector to support the firm in achieving its pro bono targets.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Examples of matters Lauren has acted and advised in include:
- Successfully representing a client in a family provision claim in the Supreme Court of NSW (Pender v Pender [2021] NSWSC)
- Successfully representing a social housing client in an appeal of her eviction in the Supreme Court of NSW, allowing her to remain in her home
- Successfully representing a client in a judicial review application to the Land and Environment Court of NSW
- Acting for many clients in discrimination and sexual harassment claims in the Australian Human Rights Commission, Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and various state-based commissions and tribunals
- Acting for many clients in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (including the Appeal Panel) in various tenancy disputes, with a core focus on the significant legal issues faced by those in social housing
- Assisting survivors of sexual abuse to access the relevant victims of crime statutory compensation schemes across Australia.
