Genevieve is a member of our Australian Government public law and litigation team working principally on National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) matters.

EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

Genevieve’s work for the NDIA has focused on alternative dispute resolution in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal in routine and complex matters. These involve allied health supports, ABA, assistive technology, pools/spas/scooters, home modifications, Specialised Independent Living (SIL) and Specialised Disability Accommodation (SDA) and other supports. Genevieve has represented the Agency in case conferences and at Directions Hearings and Substantive Hearings.

Genevieve was previously seconded to the National Disability Insurance Agency in a team providing in-house legal advice on legislation and statutory interpretation in the recoveries area. This work involved developing training development modules and contributing to the pre-existing injury working group and statutory schemes working group.

Genevieve’s experience includes statutory insurance acting in a range of matters in the WorkCover division including statutory benefits and common law serious injury files, with appearances in both the County Court and Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.

Before being admitted, Genevieve volunteered at St Kilda Legal Services, assisting in piloting an infringements clinic with retired Barrister Tony Lopez. She also completed internships at Victoria Institute of Forensic Medicine and Victoria Legal Aid.

Genevieve has appeared in relation to WorkSafe matters on behalf of private companies in directions hearings and mentions in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court and the County Court.

She has also assisted with discovery and review of medical files for claims against the Australian Taxation Office, the Department of Human Services and the Australia Postal Corporation and for private companies in WorkSafe matters.

Genevieve enjoys work in Advocacy and communicating with clients.
